Mission Viejo, CA (March 4, 2011) – Holt Integrated Circuits, a world leader in data bus IC’s for the avionics and military industries, today announced compliance of its latest 3.3V ARINC 429 line driver, HI-8596, with the EMI/EMC requirements of RTCA/DO-160G, Section 21, Category P. This specification provides a standardized test methodology which is accepted in the avionics industry as the gold standard for environmental testing of airborne equipment. Compliance ensures HI-8596 can operate successfully in applications mandating strict EMI/EMC requirements, such as cockpit instruments and flight controls. All testing was performed by an accredited external lab and a copy of the final test report is available in Application Note AN-135.
Holt also demonstrated the part’s robustness to transients and lightning strikes by meeting the requirements of DO-160G, Level 3, waveforms 3, 4, 5A and 5B.
The HI-8596 operates from a single +3.3V supply using only four external capacitors. This allows easy integration with FPGAs without the need for additional supplies and provides a compact and cost effective solution.
“This independent testing has demonstrated the capability of HI-8596 to meet the most stringent EMI/EMC requirements,” said Anthony Murray, Director of Business Development at Holt. “In addition, the possibility of a single supply makes HI-8596 a great choice for FPGA or 3.3V dual redundant ARINC 429 applications”.
The HI-8596 is available in a 16-pin SOIC package or a more compact 16-pin QFN. Samples and a demonstration kit are available upon request.
