Mission Viejo, CA (September 20, 2011) – Holt Integrated Circuits, a world leader in data bus IC’s for the avionics and military industries, today announced the availability of an application development kit for the recently released HI-6130 MIL-STD-1553 multi-terminal device. This device provides a single-chip, 3.3V BC/MT/RT MIL-STD-1553 solution, including dual transceivers and 64K bytes RAM, in a compact surface-mount 100-pin PQFP package.
This kit gives the user an out-of-the-box evaluation platform demonstrating concurrent operation for any combination of Bus Controller, Bus Monitor and one or two Remote Terminals. The hardware includes a 2-board assembly, comprised of an upper HI-6130 board with dual transformer-coupled MIL-STD-1553 bus interfaces and a lower microprocessor board with ARM Cortex M3 16/32-bit microprocessor, debug interface and regulated 3.3VDC power supply. The detachable upper HI-6130 board can be separated from the provided lower MCU board for connection to a user-supplied alternate microprocessor or FPGA board. All host interface signals are available through the inter-board headers for compatibility with generic prototyping boards.
These kits include a complete software reference design written in ANSI C. Example software supports concurrent operation for Bus Controller, two separate Remote Terminals and a simple or IRIG-106 compatible Bus Monitor. The example project software is easily customized, supporting any subset of the four terminal devices to suit any MIL-STD-1553 application requirement, including BC message sequencing, IRIG-106 message storage and packet generation, auto-initialization, message illegalization, mode code handling, data buffering and interrupt management.
The kit includes an IAR Embedded Workbench® for ARM® evaluation version CD from IAR Systems®. IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM is a fully functional integrated development environment including project management tools, optimizing C/C++ compiler and debug interface for all ARM and Cortex A/R/M variants. The ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller board includes a “J-Link On Board” debug interface, providing easy connectivity to the IAR Systems tools via a standard USB cable provided with the kit.
“These kits provide a fully contained reference design for many common MIL-STD-1553 application requirements,” said Anthony Murray, Director of Business Development at Holt. “The included IAR Systems software and source code demonstrates the ease of use of Holt’s MIL-STD-1553 component solutions and may be easily ported to other microprocessors as the basis for new designs.”
The HI-6130 Application Development Kit is now available. To request a Kit, readers should contact Holt at (949) 859-8800, by e-mail at info@holtic.com, or by visiting the Holt Web site at www.holtic.com.
