Mission Viejo, CA (July 15, 2015) - Holt Integrated Circuits today announced the release of MAMBATM, a new family of MIL-STD-1553 / MIL-STD-1760 devices in an ultra-compact form factor. The MAMBATM family is available in a 48-pin PQFP or 6mm x 6mm QFN package, the world’s smallest MIL-STD-1553 integrated solution. Four devices are offered, providing various combinations of Bus Controller (BC), Monitor Terminal (MT) or Remote Terminal (RT) functions, with all options having a 40 MHz Serial Peripheral host Interface (SPI) and integrated dual transceivers on-chip.
The HI-6138 includes all terminal functions, BC, MT and RT. HI-6137, HI-6136 and HI-6135 include BC/RT, RT/MT and RT functions respectively. All devices have internal static RAM of 8K x 17-bit words and allow concurrent autonomous operation of their individual terminals, minimizing repeated host intervention.
This new family of devices not only has the world’s smallest footprint, but device selection with the appropriate terminal combinations gives the customer the most cost effective application solution.

The 8K x 17-bit RAM available on all devices has built-in parity checking and provides the host CPU with an optional programmable interrupt. Each device may also be configured for automatic self-initialization via a dedicated SPI port from an external serial EEPROM memory.
