Mission Viejo, CA (August 30, 2018) – Holt Integrated Circuits today released a new application development kit, ADK-8400, demonstrating the features of the recently announced HI-8400, a quad galvanically-isolated discrete-to-digital sensor for avionics applications. The HI-8400 exceeds Airbus ABD0100 specification requirements by providing 800V galvanic isolation between individual sensors and the logic interface. Sensor inputs also comply with RTCA/DO-160G, Section 22 Level 3 Pin Injection Test Waveforms.
This board demonstrates the powerful features of the 800V galvanically-isolated HI-8400 discrete-to-digital sensor. Sense inputs are fully isolated from the digital domain and from each other. The logic may be powered from a single 3.3V supply, 5V supply, or 5V USB. The isolated analog sense inputs require a 16 to 36V DC supply.
Sense inputs can use individual DC power supplies to maintain channel-to-channel sensor isolation, or multiple sense inputs can share a single DC supply. In this case, isolation is still maintained between the inputs and the digital circuitry. The sensor thresholds comply with Airbus ABD0100H levels and each input channel may be individually configured as a GND/Open or Supply/Open sensor type using hardware pins. Sensor outputs are read using a serial SPI port or parallel outputs.
The number of sensor inputs may be increased by daisy-chaining two or more devices through the SPI interfaces and monitoring the serial output. A second 8400 board is included to allow users to evaluate this feature.
“Holt is delighted to supply its customers with application development kits on all new device releases”, said Anthony Murray, Director of Marketing Communications at Holt. “The ADK-8400 kit also includes demonstration software, providing customers with a useful tool for application development.”
Kits are available immediately on request from Holt.
